About Candida House
Once the Rectory for the 11th century church of St Candida and Holy Cross,
Candida House is set in the ancient village of Whitchurch Canonicorum in a fold of the rolling hills of West Dorset.
The fascinating old market town of Bridport - and the coast with its clifftop walks and seaside villages -
are about ten minutes away.
Nearby, the World Heritage Jurassic coastline invites days of exploration,
from the fossil-hunters' paradise of Charmouth to the Cobb at Lyme Regis.
There are Iron Age hill forts all around and Dorchester was Roman Durnovaria - and Hardy's Casterbridge.
For garden lovers, there are many country houses and fine gardens to enjoy.
For golfers and walkers there are spectacular courses with views that might almost distract you from your game,
as well as miles of well-marked footpaths in the countryside,
where you will find real old pubs serving good food and drink.
Candida House offers three centrally-heated bedrooms: one double and two with twin beds
all with en-suite bathrooms, television and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
After a good night's sleep, we offer a home-cooked full English breakfast.
We use local farm produce: free-range eggs, fresh fruit and juices, our own home-made bread, jams and marmalade
and offer a vegetarian option
- all cooked to your order.
Our terms for bed and breakfast are:
£35
per person per night sharing a double room;
£40
for single occupancy of a double room.
